Picture yourself being asked these 3 questions by your mentor.

“Mary, how good are you at fixing your patients?”

I puffed up my chest and said, “With all the courses I have taken, I am probably in the top 10% of therapists.”

He smirked a little, then he asked, “How good are your patients at fixing themselves?”

To drive his point home, he asked, “What if every patient asked you this question when they arrived for therapy?”

I realized if “I fixed someone”, I wasn’t helping the person nearly as much as if I taught them how to fix themselves.  What if they lifted something, tripped on a curb, or fell when on vacation? What if the pain came back after the “fix”?  What would the person do in the middle of the night, while on vacation, or when they couldn’t get to my office?

Do you feel these questions shifting anything inside you?

They did me…BIG TIME!
