Essential Oils aren’t just a tool with a numerous amount of health benefit. They can also be use for skin care and beauty. As surprising as this is, essential oils were actually some of the first beauty products ever used in ancient history. They have a wide use of applications, ranging all the way from beautifying the skin and hair to cleansing the mouth and other hygienic uses.

Essential oils with gentle soothing properties – like Rose, Sandalwood, and Helichrysum – can be helpful to soothe skin irritations and promote a healthy-looking complexion. Tea Tree and Rosemary can help cleanse the scalp and promote abundant-looking hair. You can use oils with cleansing properties like clove and cinnamon to clean your teeth, gums, and mouth as well as to promote fresh breath. If you are using straight oils, it is a good idea to dilute them before using them in your mouth. If you don’t want to deal with the hassle of diluting oils, there are plenty of products that already incorporate essential oils in them.
Not only do their natural cleansing, soothing and purifying properties make essential oils an ideal choice for personal care, but they also have lovely and inviting smells.
What is Mary Thomas, our PT and doTERRA Wellness Advocate, personal favorite? “I like to use clove for sore areas on my gums and teeth as it creates a numbing sensation. The high levels of antioxidants also speed the healing of these sensitive areas.”
